What are the preschool hours of operation?

Our standard hours are from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Morning drop off begins at 9:30 AM. Children who arrive after 9:55am, will only be admitted to school with a doctor's note or if prior arrangements have been made with the director or child's teachers.

Do you offer any care before 9:30am or after 1pm?

Accepted Answer

Not at this time. Because we are license-exempt through the state of Georgia, we are only permitted to have children at school for a maximum of 4 hours per day.

Question 3

When does the school year start?

Accepted Answer

Our school year starts the first week of September and finishes around mid-May. For the 2026-2027 School Year, our first day of school is September 1, 2026 and our last day of school is May 19, 2027.

What county do you follow for school breaks?

Accepted Answer

We closely follow Gwinnett County Public Schools Academic Calendar for our school breaks and holidays. A detailed school calendar is sent out to parents during the summer or upon enrollment.

We also follow Gwinnett County guidance for any weather closings and delays. Current parents will have any last minute changes communicated to them through text and/or the Playground app.

Do you offer GA PreK?

Accepted Answer

We do not offer GA PreK. However, our curriculum standards are based on the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS) that are used across GA PreK classrooms. We also offer the benefit of low student/teacher ratios (14:2), daily one-on-one attention from our teachers, and the use of Handwriting Without Tears curriculum.

My child was born in September. Why can't they go ahead to the next age group?

The Georgia state cut-off for PreK is age 4 before Sept 1 and the Kindergarten cut-off is age 5 before Sept 1. We want to make sure that our cut-offs line up with theirs so there is no confusion for parents about when their child is ready to enroll in PreK or Elementary School.

My child is still learning English. Will they be okay coming to school?

Accepted Answer

Most of our students are learning English as a second, and sometimes third, language! Our teachers are well versed in teaching children who are still learning English and several of them also speak a second language. We love the diversity of our school and the vibrancy this brings to our days!

How do you handle food allergies?

Accepted Answer

We are a nut-aware facility. We work closely with parents to develop individual care plans for children with severe allergies. All staff are trained in Epi-Pen administration, emergency protocols and are CPR certified.

What is your curriculum approach?

Accepted Answer

We use a play-based, child-centered curriculum that integrates social-emotional development with early academics. We also use Handwriting Without Tears for our older classes to build strong foundational skills.

Question 10

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Accepted Answer

Potty training is not required for our 2-year-old or Transitional 3s classes. However, children in our Older 3s and Pre-K classes must be fully potty trained before the school year begins.
